I have mixed results, to put it mildly. I self-published several books under a pen name and initially embraced the social media strategy with enthusiasm and vigor of the newly converted. Before I knew it, I was spending an hour a day maintaining my social media presence. The number of sales I got was about two a week. Some people might say, “It’s better than nothing!” While true, I simply cannot afford to spend this much time. As soon as I stopped nursing my social media, the sales disappeared.
This time, when using my own name, I’m trying not to fall into another extreme and not to have any online presence. These days it doesn’t look professional.
